Forum for Pennridge School Board candidates slated

Posted

The nonpartisan Pennridge Ministerium has scheduled a Pennridge School Board candidates forum for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pennridge North Middle School.

“Our plan is to go with the candidates who choose to attend,” the Ministerium said in a news release. “The purpose of the forum is to educate the voting public about the current issues facing the Pennridge School District.”

Monica Weninger, a middle school science teacher in the Wissahickon School District, will moderate.

According to guidelines released by the Ministerium, candidates will make a 60-second opening statement, then have 90 seconds to answer each of six questions on topics provided to candidates in advance. They will then answer audience questions, which were provided in writing and reviewed by neutral screeners for repetition, relevance and propriety.

Each candidate will have 90 seconds to answer each of those questions. The candidates will then be allowed to make a closing statement.

There are some ground rules:

● No placards or sound-making devices will be allowed in the auditorium.

● No applause will be allowed except at the end of the forum.

● No mention will be made of candidates or party affiliation of those in attendance or absent.

● Candidates will not be allowed to use notes, charts or aids; notepads will be provided.
