Flemington DIY to celebrate Black history with community event, art show

Posted

Flemington DIY will celebrate Black History Month with a free community event from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.

The event will feature various performances that celebrate Black history, Black resistance, and more. RSVP to hunterdonantiracism@gmail.com to attend or perform.

In March, the arts organization will host “Black Thought Leaders Fan Art Show,” opening 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4. Local artists can submit a piece by Feb. 22, which can be any two-dimensional medium that includes a quote from a Black leader.

Multiple events are taking place in Hunterdon County and surrounding areas to celebrate Black achievement and give visibility to the people and organizations creating change, which can be found listed on Flemington DIY’s website for inspiration, including a special Print Club for folks to screen-print their work with assistance from volunteers.

Registration and information can be found at flemingtondiy.org/leaders.
