Festa Foundation awards seven scholarships

Posted

The Festa Foundation recently celebrated the seventh annual Michael A. Festa Memorial Golf Invitational and Scholarship Dinner at the newly renovated Bensalem Country Club.

Seven students received scholarships: Anni Li Michini, Methacton High School; Domenic Zangrilli, Hopewell Valley High School; Gillian Conricode, Archbishop Wood High School; Ashlee Burns, Bristol High School; Joseph J. Fasti, Archbishop Wood High School; Harry J. Hampton, Notre Dame High School, and Logan Cierra Donahue, Neshaminy High School. The students were recommended by the board of trustees of the Festa Foundation from friends and family to receive scholarships for their education accomplishments and their involvement in the community.

The Festa Foundation, a nonprofit organization, awards scholarships to local students to help reduce the amount of money they may need to borrow in order to continue their education in college or a trade school. In 2011, the foundation was started with a simple sentence: “In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made ... .” Other families have since followed by having contributions made to the Festa Foundation in the memory of their loved one to be used in building a scholarship fund.

No amount is too small to make a difference in furthering a child’s education, said Donna Festa, president of the foundation, who is confident that other families will continue to join with her in honoring loved ones lost by establishing their own memorial scholarship with the foundation.

If interested in establishing a memorial scholarship fund or to donate to the Festa Foundation, call 215-860-6893 or email festafoundation@gmail.com. Those interested in volunteering their time and talents are also encouraged to contact the foundation.
