Plans for Durham Township’s 70th Community Day indicate the event will be bigger and better than ever.
Danielle Cox, township administrator, has announced all the pieces are in place. Now all the township needs is fine weather.
The event is scheduled for Saturday Oct. 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Village Green. It has continued with only a few interruptions since 1953, when it started out as a community picnic.
Members of the Durham Historical Society will conduct tours of the Durham Grist Mill. The society is in the process of restoring the 200-year-old mill.
Free activities planned for the day include face painting by Masking Faces; a caricature artist; pumpkin painting and kids Halloween crafts; hot dogs with sauerkraut; moon bounce for kids; popcorn and puppet show and carnival-type games.
The event promises booths for the office of state Sen. Jarrett Coleman, R-16, the office of state Rep. Craig Staats, R-145, and the 145th Assembly District Democratic Organization.
Vendors will include Mattatouie’s Microfarm & Apiary; 2 Moms and a Heat Press; Patriot Steel Designs; Palisades Regional Fire Rescue; Palisades Alumni Association; Riegelsville Public Library; Durham Township Environmental Advisory Council and the historical society.
Also, Penn Community Bank; Bucks County SPCA; Palisades Community Bible Church; Heritage Conservancy; Durham GOP; Emmys Essentials; Goldie Links Jewelry; Palisades Community Foundation; Cooks Creek Watershed; Durham Lutheran Church; Polk Valley Farm and Bloom Apotheke.
