Eric Simon of Doylestown has earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout award.
Simon was recognized in ceremonies on June 17 with U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, state Sen. Steve Santarsiero, and Doylestown Township Supervisor Chairman Barbara Lyons in attendance.
A member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church’s Troop 48, Simon is one of approximately 6% of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Karl Schmid. “He is the 50th Eagle from Troop 48 to join the nest,” Schmid said.
Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle; Simon earned 38 merit badges and spent 146 hours renovating 15 fitness stations at Doylestown’s Central Park.
Simon is a 2023 graduate of Central Bucks South, where he was a team captain of the school’s swim team. The son of Phillip and Abi Simon, he will attend Virginia Tech in the fall.
