The Doylestown Rugby men’s team hosted Media RFC on Sept. 30.

The Dragons, working on their rebuild, fielded several new players, along with some players who have not been on the pitch recently for Doylestown. Unfortunately, this rebuild was fully noticeable during the match.

The first half ended with a score of 5-22, in favor of Media. The only Doylestown try was scored by Kevin Hockings. The second half looked promising, with the Dragons only allowing one score by Media. However, the Doylestown offense just was not clicking. A last second try by Julio Marsiglia made the outcome 10-29, with Media taking the victory.

The Dragons are looking forward to regrouping over the upcoming bye week. Doylestown’s next match is against Philadelphia Whitemarsh at 4231 Avenue of the Republic in Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 14. Anticipated kickoff is 1:00 p.m.

The Doylestown Rugby Academy girls team entered two teams in the Knightmare’s Rugby Tournament (Lancaster) on Oct. 1.

Team 1 had a 3-1 record, with wins against West Shore (43-0), Downingtown (31-10) and North Bay (28-5), and a 5-22 loss to Knightmares 1. Try scorers for the Dragons were Kendall Maday (seven), Sydney Haddon (two), Jocelyn Terry (two), Bridget McGonigle (one), Reaghan King (one), Nolah Flynn (one), Addy LaCarrubba (one), Noelle Robinson (one) and Siena Accardi (one).

Flynn made eight conversions and Haddon made three conversions. Maday was awarded the Dragon award by the coaches for her play in the tournament.

Team 2 went 2-2 on the day, with wins against Cumberland Valley (38-12), PlayRugby (19-10), and losses to North Bay (36-10) and West Carroll (20-0).

Try scorers were Kayla Robinson (four), Siena Accardi (four), Maddie Rosato (two) and Nora Rosenburg (one). Robinson tacked on four conversions and Accardi added two conversions. Robinson was awarded the Hit Chain award for her tackles in the tournament.

The Dragons will participate in their own tournament on Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Maennerchor Field, 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown.
