The Doylestown Rugby Academy junior boys team (eighth to ninth graders) won the championship of the Elizabethtown 7s tournament on Saturday, July 15.

The Dragons dropped their first match of the day in pool play versus Berks County, 12-21. Doylestown then battled through another pool match (26-12 win over Conestoga) and semifinal (40-12 win over Elizabethtown) to set up a championship rematch with Berks County.

The championship match was played at a blistering pace with neither team ever holding more than a one try advantage. The match was tied 7-7 at halftime. Berks took a 14-12 lead in the second half before Doylestown answered with a try and then held off Berks in the last three minutes with fantastic defense with both a try saving open field tackle and playing a man down in the final minute. The final went to Doylestown 19-14.

The next and final 7s tournament of the summer is Wildcat 7s hosted by Coventry Rugby on July 29.
