The Doylestown Rugby Academy junior boys team (eighth to ninth graders) entered two sides in its home Dragon’s Breath 7s tournament June 17 at Maennerchor Field, Doylestown.
Team Davis fell in the semifinals to Berks County Rugby on the last play of the match 28-21, but Team Joey was able to beat Berks County Rugby in the final 45-0 to claim the tournament championship.
Team Joey was 6-0 on the day with a point differential of 237-5.
In pool play the team defeated Coventry Rugby 43-0, Team Davis 46-0, Conestoga 38-5 and Media Rugby 38-0. Team Joey triumphed over Conestoga 27-0 in the semifinals before topping Berks County 45-0 in the championship.
The next 7s tournament is Wildcat 7s hosted by Coventry Rugby this Saturday.
