Chalfont Borough Council this month unanimously approved the hiring of Kyle Milligan as an employee of the Public Works Department.

Borough Manager Shawn Curran mentioned during the Jan. 9 meeting that Milligan had been employed by the borough before and Curran added he looked forward to working with him again.

In other hiring news, a Central Bucks Regional Police Department representative reported at the meeting that the department has filled its vacancies and addressed its staffing issues, having added three full-time officers in the last month — Dan Boyle, Kaitlyn Roth, and Thomas Wood.

Boyle had worked with the department on a part-time basis but was promoted to full-time. Roth and Wood are new hires.

In other meeting business, Chalfont Borough Council approved construction at 115 E. Butler Ave., allowing local home improvement company Beaver Building & Remodeling space to construct a new garage.

It also approved the development of a building to place GAC water filters near the intersection of East Hillcrest Avenue and Langhorne Road to mitigate water pollution in Aqua Pennsylvania’s Chalfont Well No. 11. In addition, the project also includes a new, 8-foot-wide trail project along East Hillcrest Avenue.

The project is stated to disturb less than half an acre of land, according to the request form submitted by civil engineering company Mott MacDonald.
