Central Bucks South seniors select colleges

Posted

Olivia Dallmer got her money’s worth out of her high school experience and then some.

The recent Central Bucks South graduate was a three-sport athlete who earned seven varsity letters as a member of the volleyball team in fall as well as the winter and spring track teams. She was a state qualifier in high jump.

Dallmer was a member of the National Honors Society and graduated magna cum laude with a GPA of 4.04. When it came time to choose a college, she selected a school that offered the best of two worlds – an opportunity to receive her master’s in five years in the 3+2 Physician Assistant program while also competing for the track and field team. She selected DeSales University from a final list that also included King’s and Lock Haven.

“When I visited the first time, it felt like home,” Dallmer said. “It is a beautiful campus with over a hundred acres of land and with so many opportunities to succeed. Not only do they provide so many great clubs but also some great ways to get involved with the surrounding communities through volunteer work.”

Dallmer was one of 15 CB South seniors recognized on Tuesday, June 2, for committing to compete in collegiate sports.

Taylor Migliore will continue her softball career at Arcadia University where she will major in education. A two-time varsity letter winner and team captain, she saw time at third base and catcher for the Titans.

“I started playing softball at the age of 4, and throughout my playing career have always dreamed of playing in college,” said Migliore, who also considered Immaculata. “I really liked how welcoming the coaching staff and team were while at Arcadia’s camp and on campus visits.”

Rachel Madden was a key contributor on defense for a South field hockey team that advanced to the district playoffs for the sixth straight year. She will continue her hockey career at Immaculata University where she will major in psychology. The recent South grad also considered Gwynedd Mercy, Wilson, Arcadia, Belmont Abbey and Lycoming.

“I’ve always wanted to play at the collegiate level since I was little,” Madden said. “I chose Immaculata because of its beautiful campus alongside the great atmosphere and the awesome field hockey team.”

Ellie Perrin, a three-year letter winner, was the MVP of South’s tennis team last fall and earned third place in the SOL doubles tournament, advancing to the district tournament. She maintained a 4.24 GPA and will continue her tennis career at West Chester University where she will major in media and culture (strategic marketing) as part of the honors program.

“West Chester is close to home, and many of my friends are going there,” Perrin said. “I also have the opportunity to play tennis.

“I started to think about playing tennis in college pretty late, and my visit to West Chester for Accepted Student’s Day lined up with a tennis match. I talked to the coach and watched the match. I was invited back for an unofficial visit where the coach told me I had a spot on the team. Even though I went through the process pretty late, everything worked out.”

Jay Macalindong will continue his basketball career at Cairn University where he will major in history. A three-year varsity letter winner and team captain, he was the recipient of the coaches award given to a player who sacrificed his goals for the betterment of the team, demonstrated team spirit and exemplified core values on the court, in the classroom and in the community. He also considered California University of Pa. and Moravian University.

“When I visited Cairn, it felt like home,” Macalindong said. “Everyone I walked by had a smile on their face, and they all greeted me and asked how my day was.

“Coach (Jason) O’Connell was extremely upfront with me about the basketball team and the university, which is super important to me. I also got to meet a history professor and had a nice long conversation about what school is like as a history major.”

Madisson Ronn, who will major in psychology, will continue her soccer career at Gwynedd Mercy University. Her play as goalie for Montgomery United aided the team’s advancement as a state cup finalist. A member of the National Honors Society with a 3.8 GPA, Ronn’s final list included Arcadia, Bryn Athyn, Lancaster Bible College, Geneva College, West Chester and Susquehanna.

“I became comfortable with GMU immediately, and it feels like home,” said Ronn. “I also really enjoy the environment as well as the soccer program. I knew I wanted to play soccer at the collegiate level when my love for the game did not fade.”

Isabella Bonilla will continue her soccer career at Immaculata University. A team captain, Bonilla was named the Titans’ MVP. She also was a member of the National Honors Society, boasting a 3.8 GPA and graduating with high and distinguished honors.

AJ Peev and Logan Campbell will continue their soccer careers at the collegiate level. Peev will play soccer at West Chester University. A four-year varsity letter winner and team captain, Peev, who maintains a 3.9 GPA, led the Titans to multiple District One playoff berths and earned All-SOL recognition as both a junior and senior.

Campbell will compete in soccer for the University of Scranton. A two-year letter winner and team captain, he earned first team All-SOL honors as both a junior and senior. Campbell, who maintained a 4.36 GPA, is a member of the National Honors Society and was the recipient of the Kiwanis-Herald Scholar Athlete Award.

Zak Fischer and Kevin Carrigan will continue their football careers at Widener University and Bloomsburg University respectively. Fischer is a three-year varsity letter winner who made significant contributions on both sides of the ball. As a senior, he earned first team All-SOL honors for his efforts on defense.

Carrigan is a multi-sport athlete who earned varsity letters for football, soccer as well as track and field. On the gridiron, Carrigan earned first team All-Suburban One League honors as a punter and kicker, averaging 40 yards per punt. He was successful on 30 of 34 PAT attempts.

Christopher Kline and Joe Sciscio will both continue their volleyball careers at the collegiate level. A two-year varsity player, Kline, who earned all-league honors as a senior, was a hardworking, dedicated team captain. He will continue his volleyball career at Misericordia University.

Sciscio will attend Penn State Behrend where he was admitted into the honors program and was the recipient of the Penn State University Chancellors Scholarship. A member of the National Honors Society, Sciscio, who maintained a 4.2 GPA, earned varsity letters for both the volleyball and ice hockey programs. He was a four-year member of the volleyball team and was named team captain. On the ice, Sciscio earned MVP honors as a senior.

Seth Gibson will continue his lacrosse career at Messiah University. A team captain and two-year varsity letter winner, Gibson was a key contributor at defensive long pole and was an integral part of the success of the Titans’ program.

Morgan Schaefer will continue her volleyball career at Penn State Abington. A three-year varsity player and letter winner, she helped lead the Titans to a share of the SOL Colonial Division title and a District One playoff berth last fall. Named the team’s most improved player her junior and senior years, she earned all-league honors.
