Central Bucks could fill school board vacancies March 18

Posted

The Central Bucks School Board is holding a special meeting March 18 to interview candidates for open seats in the district’s Region 4 and 7.

Board president Karen Smith said there are 10 applicants for the positions, with four applying in Region 4 and six in Region 7. Region 4 includes Warrington Township’s 1, 3, 4 and 5 voting districts and Warwick 1. Region 7 includes Warrington 2, 6, 7 and 8.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the district’s administrative offices at 20 Weldon Drive in Doylestown.

Smith said each of the candidates will be interviewed publicly and those selected will then be appointed at the meeting. While the public cannot participate in the interviews, there will be time provided for public comment at the start of the meeting, said the president.

Republicans Lisa Sciscio, who represented Region 4, and Debra Cannon, Region 7, abruptly resigned verbally Feb. 13 following a school board meeting and then formally stepped down on Feb. 23.

The new members’ terms will expire in 2025, at which time they can run for election, if they chose to.
