No. 3 Central Bucks West, the SOL Colonial champ, beat No. 11 Downingtown East on Saturday 2-1 to clinch one of the seven PIAA class 3A field hockey spots out of District One.
Goals from Ella Dougherty and Mimi Duffy gave West a 2-0 halftime lead, and an outstanding performance from Bucks goalie Kendra Pitts sealed the win.
The Bucks traveled to No. 2 Downingtown West in Wednesday’s late district semifinal.
After a first-round bye, West (18-2) advanced by beating archrival No. 14 CB East (14-6) 1-0 in the Oct. 25 second round. Duffy scored 74 seconds into the game and it held. Pitts saved two breakaways to preserve the shutout.
The Bucks closed the regular season winning seven of eight.
