CB West-East game suspended due to rain; to be resumed April 3

Posted

After fighting through cold, wind, and on-and-off rain for almost three innings, Monday afternoon’s Suburban One League Colonial Division baseball opener between host Central Bucks West (0-0, 0-0) and CB East (0-0, 0-2) succumbed to the weather.

When the rain picked up and showed no sign of stopping anytime soon, the game was suspended with two outs in the bottom of the third inning with the game tied at 1, CB West’s Max McGlone on first after singling and teammate Kevin Bukowski at the plate. It will be resumed from that point at 3:45 p.m. Monday, April 3 at the West field.

Central Bucks East opened the scoring in the top of the second when second baseman Nolan Behm singled, stole second and third, and came home on a groundout RBI by catcher Gabe Amendola.

The hosts answered in their half of the second when center fielder Alex Valdes hit a grounder and got to second on a throwing error, and then came home on an RBI single to right by right fielder Will Hogenauer.

Starting pitchers Julio Ermigiotti for West and Sam Bliss for East, both righthanders, were still throwing when the game was suspended. Neither was overpowering but worked their way out of trouble at various points with some nifty off-speed pitches. The other hits in the game so far were a double by CB East shortstop Chase Fulford and a single by Bukowski, the CB West shortstop.
