CB East, West girls volleyball teams donate to cancer program

Posted

With their largest gift to date, the Central Bucks High School East and West girls volleyball teams recently presented $3,600 in proceeds from their annual “Pink Out” event to benefit patients of Doylestown Health’s cancer program.
The annual Pink Out event is held every October at the rivalry game between the Central Bucks High School East and West girls’ volleyball teams. Together the teams raise funds during the game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month through the sale of raffle baskets, baked goods, and Pink Out t-shirts.
“We are very fortunate to have the support of the girls’ volleyball teams, the coaches, and members of the Central Bucks School District staff and families,” said Jim Brexler, president and chief executive officer, Doylestown Health. “I am continually impressed with the compassion and generosity of the student athletes in our community and grateful that they have once again made our cancer program the beneficiary of the Pink Out event.”

Since 2014, the volleyball teams have raised more than $20,000, with proceeds supporting the priority needs of Doylestown Health’s cancer program. Doylestown Health is appreciative of the extraordinary support of the community and its commitment to giving back.
“Having just started here at Doylestown Health, it is incredible to see the generosity that comes from all corners of our community,” said Gina Smith, director, Doylestown Health’s Cancer Institute. “With the support from our community, our cancer program will be able to continue providing exceptional care and resources to those we serve.”
