Three athletes and two coaches make up the Central Bucks East Hall of Fame Class of 2022.

The athletes include Keith Matt, Ashley Jones Milone and Brett Millar, who are joined by coaches Tom Kane and Ed Walsh.

Matt, a golfer, graduated in 1993. He was a four-year letter winner and captain in 1992. He set a state record by winning 88 consecutive matches. Matt graduated with the second lowest scoring average in CB East history, 37.8 for nine holes.

He was All-Suburban One League first team in 1991 and 1992, and a second team choice in 1990. He finished second at the SOL championship in 1991, and in that same year was eighth at the PIAA championship and received all-state honors. In 1992 he was fourth at the District One competition and again qualified for states. He was also selected to represent Pennsylvania in the 1992 National High School championships.

He received a scholarship to Florida Atlantic University, where he was freshman golfer of the year. He finished his college playing career at Penn State, where he was on the team for three seasons.

Jones Milone was a standout swimmer and soccer player for the Patriots. A 1999 graduate, she was a four-year letter winner in swimming, qualifying for the District One and PIAA Class 3A meets each year. She led CB East to four Suburban One League Colonial Division titles on teams that went 46-12.

Her best events were the 200 and 100-yard freestyles. In her senior year, she placed fourth in the 200 freestyle and second in the 100 freestyle at the district meet, and placed fourth in the 100 freestyle as a sophomore. She ranks third all-time at CB East in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.61. She earned All-District One honors in 10 total events and was also an all-state honorable mention selection.

In soccer, she earned first team All-SOL in 1997, 1998 and 1999 as a defensive stopper. In her senior year she captained both the soccer and swim teams. As a freshman, she ran cross country and was an all-SOL second team pick.

She earned a swimming scholarship to Bloomsburg, where she was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American.

Millar, a 2009 graduate, was one of the best track and field athletes in CB East history. He also made key contributions to the Patriots’ success on the football field.

He specialized in the javelin, where he was undefeated in all dual and invitational meets his senior year. He scored over 100 points for the track team in each of his three seasons. In 2009, he finished second at the Penn Relays and the PIAA championships. He won the District One title with a record toss of 219 feet, and placed third at Nike Nationals.

He also threw the shot put and anchored the 4x100 relay for CB East. He was named to the National Federation Track and Field Honor Roll.

He also lettered three times in football, playing wide receiver, wingback, defensive back and long snapper. He set a school record with a 102-yard interception return for a touchdown.

After graduation, Millar competed in the javelin at both Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh.

Kane and Walsh both coached swimming. Kane was the head coach of the girls team, while Walsh headed up the boys program.

Kane took over the girls program in 1976, posting a career record of 414-136-7. He guided the team to 12 consecutive Suburban One League titles from 1993 to 2004, a streak that included two wins over perennial powerhouse North Penn.

Over the years his athletes earned 17 all-state honors, including Susan Leatham, the 1986 PIAA champion in the 100-yard butterfly. Eight of his relays earned all-state honors. Eighteen individuals and eight relays achieved National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-American honors. His swimmers and divers won 15 District One individual and relay titles.

He also coached at Fanny Chapman from 1971-1985, Central Bucks Aquatics Club from 1972-77, and taught English at CB East, where he served as the department chair.

Walsh guided the boys program for 37 years. His teams won five consecutive SOL championships and were 275-187-2 during his tenure.

His swimmers earned 13 individual District One championships and one relay title and he coached Kevin McCann to the PIAA Class 3A title in the 100-yard butterfly in 1998. Eight of his swimmers and five relays earned All-American status and 12 were National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-Americans in individual events. Five of his relays also achieved this honor.

He also produced numerous Bux-Mont and SOL champions. Walsh coached at Central Bucks Aquatics Club from 1969-1987 and the aquatic facility at the Bucks Club is named in his honor. Walsh taught physical education at Lower Merion, Holicong and Tamanend and he also coached the boys volleyball team in the 1980s and 1990s.

The inductees will be introduced on Friday night, Oct. 14, at halftime of the CB East football game against Abington. A luncheon and formal ceremony will take place at noon on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the CB East cafeteria. All are welcome to attend.
