Cairn University sets “New Creatures” gallery reception

Posted

Cairn University hosts an opening gallery reception, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, for artist Timothy Gierschick II’s “New Creatures” exhibit.

Gierschick will be at the university to discuss his work and answer questions over light refreshments.

The body of works on display has come from his own psychological and imaginative world and has been inspired by the nature and culture he is suffused with, incorporating everything up to and including advertising and pop culture to “fine” paintings.

The matter with which these paintings are made are also a product of the world, often being created on found surfaces—humble, discarded pieces that he resurrects and finds new life in.

Gierschick’s paintings and works on paper have been exhibited and collected both nationally and internationally, including by Duane Morris offices worldwide, and Capital One Bank NA. He earned his Bachelor of Arts, concentrating in Printmaking, from Messiah College in 2000. He is employed by the Barnes Foundation as a preparator.

The Connie A. Eastburn Gallery is on the campus of Cairn University, 200 Manor Ave., Langhorne. “New Creatures” will be on display through Nov. 4.
