The Bucks County Coroner’s Office has identified the body that washed up on the bank of the Delaware River in Bristol Township July 3, as that of Sokhon Sam, a 36-year-old Asian man from Philadelphia.

Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck and Bristol Township Police confirmed he is the same man who went missing in the Delaware River in Bristol Township on the evening of June 27.

Bristol Township police responded to a call that evening of a man attempting to steal a boat from a private residence. When they arrived, the man jumped into the river, Buck said in a press release. Rescue attempts were unsuccessful.

Autopsy findings Thursday confirmed the cause of death as drowning, and the manner of death was determined to be accidental with no signs of trauma.

“Our office extends its deepest condolences to the Decedent’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Buck said.
