The Academy of Vocal Arts Tuesday announced the appointment of Scott Guzielek as its new president and artistic director effective July 1.
Guzielek, who has been the Academy’s vice president and general manager since 2019, will succeed K. James McDowell, who is retiring after almost four decades of service to the organization.
Guzielek was in Bucks County on April 22 when the Philadelphia-based AVA visited the Carversville home of Barbara Donnelly Bentivoglio for “An Afternoon of Opera Arias & Musical Theater.”
The event was a fund-raising cocktail party, featuring performances by the resident artists of The Academy of Vocal Arts, Ethel Trujillo, soprano, Monique Galvao, mezzo-soprano, Matthew Goodheart, tenor and Yue Wu bass-baritone were accompanied by Ting Ting Wong, pianist.
