Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum hosts 30th fundraiser

Posted

Support the preservation and public programs of Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum by purchasing a ticket to The Andalusia Foundation’s annual Cabaret on the River.

The black-tie fundraiser takes place from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum, 1237 State Road, Andalusia.

It includes an evening of cocktails, gourmet dining, and musical entertainment by American jazz group The John Pizzarelli Trio. Known as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook, Pizzarelli has recorded over 20 solo albums and appeared on more than 40 albums by notable recording artists such as Paul McCartney and James Taylor.

Since it was established in 1980, The Andalusia Foundation has preserved and maintained the 50-acre picturesque estate that features native woodlands and formal gardens. Andalusia’s grounds are home to gardens that date back to the 18th century and more than 1,000 trees, including 250 unique specimens and cultivars from around the world.

Overlooking the Delaware River, the Historic House is an early 19th-century Greek Revival mansion with a monumental columned porch placed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks in 1966. The Andalusia Foundation’s mission is to care for the Historic House, its furnishings, surrounding gardens, and property to benefit scholars, students, and the general public.
