Two local Lions teams played in District One girls volleyball championship matches Oct. 27 at William Tennent, but only one walked off the court with a tournament title.
In Class 2A, No. 1 New Hope-Solebury defeated No. 2 MaST Charter 3-0 to claim the district title for the second consecutive year. The Lions will play District 11 champion Notre Dame Green Pond for a PIAA bid Thursday.
In the Class A final, held after the 2A contest, top-seeded Faith Christian fell to No. 3 Sacred Heart 3-0. The Lions advanced to the district title game by defeating No. 4 Chester Charter 3-0 on Oct. 25.
In other volleyball action last Thursday, No. 14 Strath Haven upset No 4 Council Rock South 3-1 in the second round of the District One Class 4A tournament to end the Golden Hawks’ season.
