Wrightstown Municipal Building sustains storm damage

Posted

The local impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Ida continue to emerge.
At a recent meeting, the Wrightstown Board of Supervisors and township officials reviewed damage that the municipal building sustained during the historic storm.
Board Chairman Chester Pogonowski said that the building received about a half-foot of water in the basement – and related damage.
“The water apparently got into the building due to weather proofing flashing that blew off on a flat roof,” Pogonowski explained. “This permitted accumulated water on the roof to drain through the walls.”
Dry wall in basement offices sustained damage that needed addressing. “This is currently being remediated to avoid a longer-term mold issue,” Pogonowski said. “We expect the damages to be covered by our insurance carrier.”

Fortunately, no important records or other essential documents were lost for good.
“While a few paper records from a previous engineer were destroyed, electronic versions are available,” Pogonowski said. “Other ‘noncritical’ records were stored high enough to preserve their integrity.”
In other news, supervisors authorized a contract with Asphalt Maintenance Solutions, LLC to move forward with crack sealing on more than 20 roads within the township, up to a limit of $10,000. Installation costs will be $33 per gallon of a polymer modified crack seal.
Additionally, supervisors authorized a contract with Morton Salt for the purchase of rock salt for wintertime road-deicing at a price of $57.88 per ton delivered.
