Wrightstown Friends hosts Candlelight Christmas Carol Sing

Posted

Wrightstown Friends Meeting invites the community to join in at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17, for its annual Candlelight Carol Sing.

The historic meetinghouse, located at 535 Durham Road (Route 413) in Wrightstown, will be lit with candles and simply decorated with fresh cut greens.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to step aside from the busy season and sing together accompanied by piano. The Christmas story will be read. And in the manner of Friends, the evening will close with a few moments of silence.

Following the hour or so of singing all are welcome in the social hall for hot spiced cider, hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.

This yuletide tradition at Wrightstown Meeting was started in 1941 and has continued for 83 years – although the 2020 Carol Sing had to be on Zoom.

With so many candles and singers, the nearby Lingohocken Fire Company from Wycombe will be on standby. Though the Friends have never had a problem, one of Lingohocken’s red fire trucks will be parked outside the meetinghouse. The meeting appreciates the fire company’s dedication to this annual event.

Wrightstown Friends Meeting asks that you arrive early to have time to park.
