Wounded Hero 5K Heroes Car Show coming to Warminster

Posted

The 10th annual Wounded Hero 5K & Salute to Heroes Car Show will take place June 18, at Warminster Community Park in Warminster.

This year, the event will honor the 13 fallen heroes that were killed in Kabul, Afghanistan at Hamid Karzai Airport during the drawdown of the Afghanistan War. Operation Ward 57 is flying in the Gold Star Families of these fallen heroes as those gathered honor and remember their sons and daughters.

Opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. as wounded heroes and Gold Star Families are escorted into the event. Special guest speakers will include Army Ranger Ron O’Ferrall and Gold Star Families of the 13 fallen heroes. The 5K and one-mile memorial walk will follow the conclusion of opening ceremonies.

The Salute to Heroes Car Show will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m, with food, raffles, and live entertainment by The Resilient – an all wounded warrior band.

“Opening ceremonies is extremely powerful, and moving – it’s the best part of the day. Definitely something you don’t want to miss,” said Heather Sliwinski, event director.

All proceeds of the event go to Operation Ward 57, which supports wounded, injured, and ill service members, veterans, their caregivers and those that aid in their recovery by providing outreach in their recovery, comfort and morale, and through advocacy, education and promotion of their circumstances.
