Willard J. Remphrey Jr.

Willard “Will” James Remphrey Jr., age 85, of Doylestown, Pa., passed on Sept. 2, 2022.

Willard was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Irene Ochs Remphrey (2018), and is survived by his children, Karen Cameron and her husband William, and Keven Remphrey and his wife Bella. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Allison, Adam, Jessica and Jillian.

Willard grew up in the Lee Park, Pa., and Oreland, Pa., areas. He graduated from Springfield Regional High School and then Lehigh University in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, going to work for Philco. He was in the ROTC for the Navy and served in the Naval Reserves until 1968. Willard received his MBA at Temple University after which he began his career as a financial controller working for several companies prior to joining Data Card Corp. from which he retired in 1994.

Willard was a longtime active member of the Doylestown Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder and Sunday School teacher for many years.

Willard was an avid sports fan, especially for the Philadelphia teams, and loved to talk sports. He coached softball in the Doylestown Athletic Association (DAA) and then at Lenape Middle School. He also coached tennis at Lenape and then Unami Middle School where he had many successful seasons. When he retired from coaching, Unami named the tennis courts in his honor.

He also loved animals, both wild and domestic. He had a couple of dogs and several house rabbits over the years. He loved traveling to places to see wildlife, especially national parks. Cruising the Caribbean and Alaska were other favorite activities.

Funeral services were held privately. Arrangements by the Weber Funeral Home, Riverton, NJ 08077.
