“What’s It Worth?” host presents workshop on how to value heirlooms

Posted

If you’ve always wondered whether that family heirloom is valuable, Mike Ivankovich can help you.

On Tuesday, the host of a popular radio program will reveal what your personal treasures are worth, during a workshop and in-person appraisal program, in the Pearl Buck Room of the Doylestown Library Center, 150 S. Pine St., from 1 to 3 p.m. The program is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Doylestown Library.

“When dealing with antiques, collectibles, and general household ‘stuff,’ everyone wants to know two things: ‘What’s it worth?’ and ‘What can I do with it?’,” said Ivankovich, who is an author and auctioneer, in addition to hosting the weekly “What’s It Worth? Ask Mike the Appraiser” radio show on WBCB 1490 AM.

“I’ll help folks understand how to determine value and where there may be a market for their antiques and collectibles, and then do individual appraisals.”

Admission to the program is $5 per person, and each participant may bring one item for appraisal for an additional $10, payable on site by cash, check or Venmo. Participants must preregister by sending an email to: friendsofdoylestownlibrary@gmail.com. Appraisal items must be carried in by the participant.

“We encourage people to come and enjoy Mike’s presentation and have him appraise their personal treasures,” said Steve Schreiner, president of the Friends of the Doylestown Library. “It’s also a great way to support the Friends, which in turn supports library programs like Reading to the Dogs.”

The Friends of the Doylestown Library is a nonprofit organization supporting the Doylestown Library.
