We must use our right to vote to pull back from the brink

Posted

Recent news has showed us m. Our population is over 300 million but I believe that fewer than 500 individuals including the six ultra conservative Supreme Court justices, the Republican caucuses of the U.S. House and Senate and the CEOs of many major corporations are calling the shots.

Please do not fall for their litany of blaming the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, or the present administration for all our woes. Instead, let us pay close attention to the words and deeds of those mentioned above.

The Supreme Court just gutted both American women’s privacy rights by overturning Roe v Wade, and public safety by shooting down New York’s law requiring a permit to carry a concealed weapon; the Jan. 6 hearings continue to lay out evidence of the corruption and sedition of the previous administration.

Finally, the 1% wishes to continue its obscenely opulent lifestyle. Thus, enormous sums pour from their coffers into the pockets of complicit law makers who, in turn, are sure to pass legislation favoring the few at the expense of the many. And we, the 99%, pay and will continue paying for as long as this tiny minority has its way.

We can cave in, give up, shut our eyes to what is happening, or we can use our most powerful voice: The Right to Vote.

And vote we must and pull our country back from the brink of disaster.
