Washington Crossing Foundation to honor veterans Sunday

Posted

The Washington Crossing Foundation on Sunday will honor veterans and celebrate George Washington’s 292nd birthday in Bristol Borough.

Veterans and friends of the foundation are invited to visit Shadyside, its historic headquarters property on Radcliffe Street from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will feature music, a fife-and-drum corps, a buffet dinner, a color guard ceremony and a birthday cake with 292 candles for Washington, who’ll be portrayed at the event by Langhorne Police Chief John Godzieba.

The foundation will also present a $500-check to the Travis Manion Foundation, a $500-check to Edgely Fire Department and a $300-check to Boy Scout Troop 11, of Levittown, to honor their service.

The Washington Crossing Foundation is a nonprofit organization which has distributed more than $2 million through its scholarship program to deserving patriotic high school seniors from across the nation who plan a career in government service.
