Warrington Township wins Budget Award for third year

Posted

Warrington Township has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2022 budget.

The award represents an accomplishment for Warrington Township and is indicative of its work meeting the principles of governmental budgeting.

In order to receive the budget award, Warrington Township had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation that assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operational guide and communications device

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories in order to receive the award.

A Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation was presented to Township Manager Barry Luber and the Warrington Township Board of Supervisors.

Fred Gaines, chairman of the Warrington Board of Supervisors, stated, “The board is especially proud that once again our finance department has successfully met the criteria to qualify for this prestigious award.” Gaines continued, “In as much as we have experienced several key personnel changes in the department over the past few years, this year’s Budget Award is a testament to the steadfast leadership and fiscal prudence of our Township Manager, Barry Luber and the exceptional teamwork within the finance department.”

This is the third year Warrington Township has competed for and won the award. With more than 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program, award recipients are recognized as pioneers in both improving the quality of budgeting and providing an example for other governments throughout North America.
