Warrington acquires 67 Mill Creek acres for open space for open space

Posted

Warrington Township has completed acquisition of 67-acre parcel of land along Mill Creek, at the corner of Pickertown and Lower State roads in Warrington.

The property was purchased from the Eureka stone quarry at a price of $2.023 million. The township received a $1.01 million grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources toward the purchase price and an additional $285,742 from the Bucks County Open Space program.

The remainder is from the voter-approved open space program. The township’s open space and land preservation committee and the environmental advisory council (EAC) have been working for a couple years to make the acquisition a reality.

“This has been an ongoing township goal and has been a major accomplishment for the residents of Warrington Township,” said Supervisor Chair Shirley A. Yannich.
