Warminster Library’s Camp Read S’more focused on library literacy

Posted

The Warminster Free Library held its inaugural Family Camp-In Library Adventure – a free indoor children’s fair – on Saturday, March 25.

Organized and sponsored by its sister organization, the Friends of Warminster Library, the Library Adventure was a multimedia experience themed around local Pennsylvania wildlife and camping. As a PA Forward-certified library, Warminster Library used the event to teach children about the free resources at their library and to improve informational literacy in the community.

The event featured activities designed to encourage children to boldly explore their library, including woodland-themed games, scavenger hunts, and creative projects. The camp-in also featured educational performances, including a live animal show by the Elmwood Park Zoo, a musical sing-along with children’s songwriter Peter Moses, storytelling by its librarians, and a stargazing exhibit from the Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association. Camp-themed refreshments, such as hot dogs and s’mores, were served.

The free event was sponsored by the Friends of the Library and local businesses.
