Warminster Food Bank gets double dose of help for Hunger Action Month

Posted

In honor of Hunger Action Month, Warminster Food Bank recently received a donation of $10,000 from Giant Supermarket of Warminster.

In addition to the donation, numerous Giant associates volunteered at the food bank on Fridays in the month of September.

Giant Supermarket works with Warminster Food Bank regularly by making monetary donations and by being a collection site during food donation events. The donation of funds and volunteer time is a big help, as the number of people requesting assistance from area food banks has gone up considerably due to rising costs from inflation.

The Warminster Food Bank serves over 800 individuals/200 families each month and more than 7,500 individuals/1,800 families each year in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

“Giant’s gift of funds and volunteers came at just the right time,” said Mike Cerino, director, Warminster Food Bank. “As inflation continues to rise, more people are coming to us asking for help. As the demand increases, we want to help those who are experiencing food insecurity get the nutritious food that they need and deserve. We are very grateful for Giant’s ongoing support and generosity in dollars, volunteer hours and food drive support.”
