Warm weather highlights Tohickon Creek whitewater release

Posted

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources conducted its semiannual water release from Lake Nockamixon into Tohickon Creek March 16-17.

Consisting of millions of gallons of water, the release attracts skilled kayakers, canoeists and even rafters across the northeastern United States to Bucks County in March and November – and thanks to unseasonably warm temperatures this past weekend, the latest iteration was no different.

The release, according to the DCNR, provides suitable whitewater boating conditions downstream through Pipersville’s Ralph Stover State Park, where many launch their craft and travel some 4 miles along the Tohickon Creek to its junction with the Delaware River at Point Pleasant.
