Walkers & Associates Day of Service donates 1,000 holiday meals

Posted

Walkers & Associates, an Ameriprise Financial Services Practice in Flemington, N.J., hosted its ninth annual Day of Service Nov. 3, at the Stangl Factory in Flemington, N.J.

More than 100 people volunteered to pack Thanksgiving meal totes for 1,000 families served by the Flemington Area Food Pantry, Fisherman’s Mark and the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

Walkers & Associates clients, friends and community partners donated money, time and resources to the massive service event. A total of $29,679 was donated to the Flemington Food Pantry for the initiative.

The Day of Service event has grown from 100 meals provided for Flemington Food Pantry clients in 2014 to 1,000 meals provided for three local food pantries in 2022.

“We are blessed that so many people came together to help our neighbors in need,” said event organizer Christine Walker, chief operations officer of Walkers & Associates, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial. “Sadly, the number of families that need help has grown dramatically; we do what we can and then try to do a little more,” she added.

Walker owns the practice along with her spouse, Stephen Walker, who is CEO and lead Certified Financial Planner.

“It is one of my favorite days of the year, everyone is so happy to be there. Christine is an amazing planner, and she makes it fun for all the volunteers, many of whom return year after year,” he said.

Walkers & Associates would like to thank the following for their support: Jeannine Gorman and the Flemington Area Food Pantry, the Colalillo family and Shoprite of Hunterdon County, America’s Grow a Row, Flemington Pickleball Club, Flemington Presbyterian Church, Move for Hunger, Evans Worldwide, George Eckelmann of Stangl Factory, Factory Fuel, The Food Architects, A Splash of Color by Xtina Photography, as well as their friends, community members, and clients.

This event was hosted in conjunction with the first of two national days of service Ameriprise arranges each year in partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. According to Feeding America, there are 37 million people in America facing hunger and food insecurity.
