Vote for change in Pennridge this November

Posted

Recently I attended the Pennridge High School Arts Festival. It was a wonderful display of student art and an incredible concert by the orchestra, chorus and band. Congratulations to the music teachers Mrs. DiVasto, Ms. Schimitsch, and Mr. Feher. I was one of those teachers 30 and more years ago. This evening showed the best of Pennridge.

Unfortunately what the Pennridge School Board has been up to lately is the worst of Pennridge. Censorship seems to be in style now but it limits students and shortchanges their education. Banning books and signing a curriculum contract with an openly religious organization is inappropriate in a public school district.

The current school board is a collection of narrow-minded individuals who have joined the current culture wars at the expense of the students they serve while, at the same time, they are seemingly indifferent to the threat that gun violence poses to everyone in school and out of school. As the saying goes “Ban guns, not books.”

Guns are potentially more harmful to kids than books could ever be.

Fortunately in November the makeup of the Pennridge board can change.
