Upper Makefield has secured a contractor to perform improvement work on a range of roads in the township this year.
At a recent meeting, the Upper Makefield Board of Supervisors awarded a contract of $662,620 for the road upgrades to Bray Brothers of Fallsington.
Bray Brothers won the contract in a public bidding process.
Bray Brothers will perform the upgrades on Bailey Drive, Bankers Drive, Bakers Drive, Dunkin Drive, Beaumont Drive, Emerald Court, Russel Court and at the township complex.
For the roads, Bray Brothers will provide road paving that will include edge milling, base repair, leveling, tack coat, wearing course overlay, and joint sealing as required.
In addition, Bray Brothers will do full-depth milling, base repair, leveling, tack coat, wearing course overlay and miscellaneous line striping at the Township Complex.
In other news, supervisors approved the hiring of Colin Murphy as a part-time police officer. Murphy fills the part-time role vacated by Andrew Nagle, who last month became a full-time officer with the township department.
In another development, supervisors plan to send a survey to businesses in Washington Crossing Village. In advance of the 2026 Semiquincentennial of the United States, the township wants to get an idea of what type of improvement projects businesses in the historic area might want to see. The survey should be going out within the next few months, officials said.
