Upper Makefield to repair bridges this year

Posted

Three bridges in Upper Makefield are slated to receive repairs they need in 2024.

At a public meeting on Jan. 2, the township board of supervisors approved contracts with local companies to perform the work. The contracts total $56,665.

D.J. Pinciotti Construction, of Richboro, will handle the job on the “Green Bridge” for $17,500.

The span is located on Old Dolington Road, about 350 feet south of its intersection with Wrightstown Road. The project involves repairs to the stone masonry substructure, wingwalls and abutments.

D.J. Pinciotti will also tackle what needs doing at “Bridge 9,” a structure on Old Dolington that’s about 1,000 feet north of that road’s intersection with Route 532.

There, the work will include repointing joints in the stone abutments and wingwalls, rebuilding wingwalls, resetting loose stones, and addressing undermining of the abutments and wingwalls. The contract for this project is also $17,500.

The third project will center on “Bridge 7,” located on Creamery Road about 1,500 feet south of its intersection with Wrightstown Road.

For $21,665, Toth Bros. Clearing and Dredging Inc., of Sellersville, will repoint joints in the arch barrel, spandrel wall, stone abutments and wingwalls. The firm will also reset loose stones and install scour protection.
