Two motorcyclists killed in crash in Nockamixon

Posted
Two motorcyclists were killed Sunday in a crash involving a truck on Route 412 (Durham Road), just north of Church Hill Road, in Nockamixon Township, state police said.

The motorcyclists were identified by state police as Stephen S. Yothers, 54, of Perkasie, and Vincent J. Nielsen, 54, of Lansdale.

Police identified the driver of the truck as Kaitlyn O. Butler, 18, of Emmaus, and her passenger as Keith A. Dailey, 19, of Kearneysville. They said Butler sustained a “suspected minor injury,” and Dailey was not injured.

Police said the Ford F350 driven by Butler was southbound on Route 412 when the front and rear passenger side tires went into a small ditch. They said Butler steered the tires back onto the roadway and then crossed over into the opposite lane of travel, causing a head-on collision with the two Harley-

Davidson motorcycles, which were traveling north on Route 412.

Both of the riders were thrown from their motorcycles, police said, and the truck crossed back into the southbound lane of travel coming to rest facing southwest.

Yothers and Nielsen, who were both wearing helmets, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to police.

Butler and Dailey were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for evaluation. Butler was cited with a “driving on roadways laned for traffic” violation.

State police were assisted by Ottsville Fire Dept. and Fire Police, Upper Bucks Regional EMS and the Bucks County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
