Truman High School club slates sapling fundraiser

Posted

The Truman High School Environmental Club will host a tree planting event April 22 in partnership with @treeplenish.

The club’s goal is to have enough trees planted in the community to offset the Levittown school’s yearly energy consumption – 650 trees in total.

In support of this mission, the club invites people to order saplings from its event webpage. Residents can choose from flowering dogwood, American sycamore, and Eastern redbud saplings.

Saplings are available for purchase through March 22.

The first 50 saplings are free, and after those run out, the rest are $5. On the day of the event, residents can pick up trees and plant them or have trained volunteers plant them for $20 as a donation to help support the club.

In the past, club members have used money they’ve raised to install 20 solar panels on the roof of the high school, plant trees on school grounds, and help pay for members to go on the club field trip to the Florida Keys.
