Former Eagles Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tra Thomas, who played 11 seasons and made three Pro Bowls in Philadelphia, will be in Doylestown Friday evening to help Bucks County start its Super Bowl weekend off right.
“With Tra Thomas coming, this rally will be a blast,” said Bucks County Herald publisher Joseph G. Wingert. “Add the former Eagles cheerleaders, the Galena Brass Band, the Fitzpatrick Irish Dancers, the Freestyle Dance Academy, our esteemed local football coaches, face painting and a balloon artist, and it will be a huge celebration of the Eagles’ success.”
Thomas’ appearance at the Herald’s “Bucks County Loves the Birds” Friday pep rally ahead of the Birds’ Sunday night matchup with Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs is sure to fire up the crowd.
But, as Wingert mentioned, he’s hardly the only reason to be on the Old Courthouse lawn at Court and State streets starting at 5 p.m. Friday.
In addition to the dance troupes, cheerleaders and brass band, the pep rally will feature appearances by all three Central Bucks high school head football coaches and the head football coach of the Aggies of Delaware Valley University.
Bucks County personality Tony Luna will be on hand to keep the festivities moving.
Finally, Doylestown videographer Thomas Brunt will be shooting and cutting together a “Bucks County Loves the Birds” video from the rally that will reach the Philadelphia Eagles organization, regional media outlets and social media before the big game.

Here are a few housekeeping items for those attending the rally and making a night of it in Doylestown.
During the pep rally, Court Street will be closed between Pine and Main streets. Street parking in Doylestown is free after 5 p.m. Parking will also be available in the garages located at Court and Broad streets, and Broad and Union streets.
