Town and Country cabaret to give side-kicks, villains, unlucky chance to shine

Posted

Town and Country Players brings a twist to its season with a special production – a cabaret that features the poor, unfortunate, souls of musical theater.

Directed by Jessica Briggs, with Musical Director Sue Den Outer, the show, running this Friday through Sunday at the theater on Route 263 in Buckingham, features songs pulled from those seemingly hapless characters.

“Probably Doomed: Happy Never After Cabaret” is perfect for anyone who loves a good villain, the sidekick, the unlucky, and the character who is simply not going to make it out alive. Featuring songs from shows including “Sweeney Todd,” “Six” and “Chicago, performers will tackle themes that are both humorous and tragic.

“Calling the show ‘Probably Doomed’ was a nod to all of the characters in musicals that never reach their happily ever after, but we love their stories just the same,” said Briggs. She added that the cabaret will include “wonderful surprises” in that there are a few songs that are “miscast” or “Broadway backwards.”

“Probably Doomed” is Emceed by Steve DiNardo and Edward Liu. The cabaret features the talents of local performers Mark Applegate, Amelia Ball, Sydney Broitman, Jessa Casner, Maurice Charles, Tom Chiola, DJ Holcombe, Jen Kopcha, Jenna Moschella, Kirstie Sabella, and Melissa Schiumo.

Curtain time is 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For information and tickets, visit townandcountryplayers.org or call 215-348-7566. Tickets are $25.
