The Nation magazine editorial director to keynote Coalition For Peace Action program

Katrina vanden Heuvel, editorial director and publisher of The Nation magazine, will give the keynote address at the Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) annual membership program, starting with a sponsor reception from 1:30-2:30 p.m., followed by the program from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.

The gathering, at at Christ Congregation, 50 Walnut Lane, Princeton, N.J., will also include CFPA honoring three people for their contributions to peace:

•Dr. Stewart Prager, Princeton University physicist affiliated with the Program on Science and Global Security; and co-founder of Physicists Coalition for Nuclear Threat Reduction;

•Yael Niv, president of the Good Government Coalition of NJ, a leader of the campaign to eliminate the “County Line” on ballots. New Jersey is the only state that has such a system. A Rutgers University study showed that candidates with that placement had their chance of winning increased by 38%; and

•Sivaram Chelluri, longtime CFPA Peace Education Committee chair.

Current and new CFPA members are eligible to register to attend by visiting peacecoalition.org and clicking on the Membership Gathering item under Upcoming Events.

The cost is $100 to attend the Sponsor Program with vanden Heuvel and the honorees. The cost to attend the program is $10 per person. A Q&A period will follow vanden Heuvel’s keynote address.

Pre-registration is required by noon on Friday, June 7.
