The Hazelrigg Brothers return to The Inn at Centre Bridge

Posted

George and Geoff Hazelrigg were two seemingly typical kids raised in Princeton, N.J. Encouraged by their parents who observed their early musical propensity, they were trained as elementary-school-aged kids in formal vocal, early music and classical music with George on harpsichord and Geoff on violin.

By the time they reached high school, most of their interest lay in jazz. By 2017, The Hazelrigg Brothers with John O’Reilly Jr. on drums released “Songs We Like” and received critical acclaim from among others, All About Jazz, Jazz in Europe, and Audiophile Audition.

This collection of songs that have personal meaning to the brothers, are hardly “covers,” offering their treatment to works from Jethro Tull, Men at Work, Bela Bartok, Jimi Hendrix, and Steely Dan.

After performing a “soft” release of “Synchronicity: An Interpretation of the album by The Police” at The Inn at Centre Bridge, The Hazelrigg Brothers return to the same venue for a performance of “Synchronicity” in its entirety at 8 p.m. Friday, July 28. The Inn is located at 2998 River Road, New Hope.

The album has been moving up the JazzWeek charts; the recording is an audiophile’s experience full of the fire, power and dynamics that have become the Hazelrigg Brothers trademark and is “an apt honor” for the 40th anniversary of The Police’s classic final collection.
