The Black Land, Pennsylvania's Anthracite Coal Region - photography by Ed Dougert

Posted

In 1999 Ed Dougert began The Black Land project, a photographic journey to capture the legacy of anthracite coal mining in the Northeast Pennsylvania Region. The project would take Dougert to obscure places whose austere landscapes and broken buildings contain the last remnants of an industry that fueled the industrial age in American and influenced all aspects of life in this region.
