The Art of the River Towns Artist of the Week: Rodney Miller

Posted
The inaugural Art of the River Towns exhibition, sponsored by River Towns Magazine, is set to open at the Prallsville Mills in Stockton N.J., on Thursday, Oct. 1. In the weeks leading up to the show, the Herald will feature one of the local artists accepted for entry.

This week, we are highlighting Rodney Miller of Morrisville, who has over 35 years of experience as a fine art photographer/digital abstract artist. Miller attended Philadelphia Community College and Tyler School of Art, Temple University, majoring in photography.

“As a photographer Rodney’s interest is not merely capturing what his camera sees,” Miller says in his artist statement, “but rather what he sees. He uses his camera as a tool to create images rather then digital recordings of various subjects.

“Rodney’s compositions range from realistic to non-representational to highly abstract. He enjoys photographing architectural cityscapes, rural landscapes and many of those things that are often right in our view that most will miss seeing but he sees in a different way. His digital work is where Rodney takes the viewer to another dimension and another time.”

Miller has exhibited throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio in group shows, two-person shows and his own solo show. He has won awards from several juried shows.

Co-chairs Pearl and Chuck Mintzer, have helped to launch the Art of the River Towns Online Sales Gallery at Rivertownsmagazine.com.

New work will continue to be added through early October and the online sales gallery will be available until the end of October.
