Urban Outfitters’ Terrain has made its way to Doylestown. Located on Delaware Valley University’s campus, this marks the third Terrain location to open in Pennsylvania. The official opening day was Thursday.
Terrain is a space that includes a retail shop, greenhouse and garden nursery, cafe, and private event space. The team members have worked to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Design by Terrain (DBT) team members remain in-store and provide assistance for those who may need gardening advice or an extra opinion on interior design.
The retail shop includes wreaths, candles, cookbooks, and everything in between. The cafe’s menu is altered to include hand-picked local produce. DelVal’s farms are expected to play a significant role in what comes through the kitchen. The private event space at Terrain at DelVal is more extensive than at any of its other locations, holding up to 162 people. With more than 100 weddings and events booked before opening day, the team has already been put to work.
Due to its location, Terrain and DelVal will partner as an ode to the farmer’s market that once stood in its place. The partnership with the neighboring university is unique to this location.
Terrain will include DelVal and its students in many ways. There will be a pop-up DelVal farm stand every Saturday with produce for sale that comes from DelVal’s farms. Students will be hired in the nursery, kitchen and store. Two have already begun internships with Terrain as customer associates and garden artisans. The hope is that the partnership will have has positive effects on both parties involved.
The entire experience of Terrain will change seasonally. From decor to menus, the space will completely transform. However, DelVal will still be involved.
In the fall, activities such as “Pick Your Own” will occur on the university farms. Customers will have the opportunity to pick pumpkins, peaches and apples grown by students.
Throughout the year, Terrain will plan to host seasonal festivals. The first of many is the Summer Bounty on Aug. 26. The celebration of summer produce will include live music, vendors, kids crafts and more.
