Summer fireworks return to New Hope, Lambertville

Posted

After several years without a communitywide fireworks display, New Hope and Lambertville will once again light up the sky this summer.

The first 10-minute show is set for 9:35 p.m. Saturday. Rain date is July 7. Three more will follow on Friday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Sept. 1, New Hope officials recently announced.

With funding from an anonymous donor, the Greater Hew Hope Chamber of Commerce and New Hope Celebrates are sponsoring the shows, estimated to cost about $12,000.

As before, the fireworks will be launched from a barge located off the Waterloo Street ramp in the Delaware River, about 500 feet from the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge. Hundreds often gather on the bridge for a view of the night sky filled with the bright lights and loud booms of the display.

Parking will be available at New Hope-Solebury High School, Union Square and Lambertville Station. Some locations will require a fee.

The fireworks displays ended about five years ago amid financial challenges.
