Posted

The prospectus for Drama at Phillips’ Mill’s 6th annual Juried Emerging Playwright Competition is now available at www.phillipsmill.org/drama/emerging-playwright-competition-prospectus.

The acceptance period for submissions is now open and runs through Aug. 27 at midnight. A distinguished panel of judges will select up to six plays to be presented before a live audience at a staged reading on Saturday, Nov. 18.

From its inception, the Emerging Playwright Competition has been a favorite among artists, bringing original, one-act works to the historic stage at Phillips’ Mill in a late fall treat for the entire community. The first 50 entries submitted are considered for the competition. A nonrefundable fee of $10 per script is required for entry. Each of the plays selected for the staged reading will receive a cash prize of $100. Selected plays will be announced on the Phillips’ Mill website during the week of Oct. 9.

The Emerging Playwright Competition Staged Readings shine a light on local playwrights and offer the community an opportunity to enjoy a thought-provoking night out and support area artists. Nestled along the Delaware River just north of New Hope, at 2619 River Road, the historic grist mill provides a charming backdrop to appreciate an inspiring night of drama in Bucks County.
