Stover Mill Gallery schedules 64th art season

Posted

The Tinicum Civic Association’s Stover Mill Gallery—Bucks County’s longest continuously running art gallery—has announced the calendar for its 64th year of weekend art exhibits.

To kickoff the season in April, painter Lauren Travis of Doylestown presents works that have been four years in the making. The exhibition, “Reflections and Visions,” will showcase Bucks County landscapes and riverscapes, as well as still lifes. May brings “Natural Fusion: Watercolor and Photography in Harmony” with photographer Andy Holtzman of Upper Black Eddy, and watercolorist Sharon Pitts of Montclair, N.J, presenting an exhibition of photographic works and watercolors. The exhibition contrasts the individual approach of each artist to their craft. Whether capturing a landscape, delicate florals or the nuanced flow of water, the two artists have found an intriguing commonality, one that playfully provokes and inspires at the same time. The exhibit is open from 1 to 5 p.m. May 4-5, 11-12, 18-19 and 25-26

“Engaging in Oils and Sculptures” pairs Jeanne Chesterton of Newtown and Patricia Goodrich of Richlandtown in an exhibition of their works in June. Chesterton’s realistic still life paintings include formal and ordinary subjects that reflect the beauty she appreciates in them. Goodrich presents wood, adobe and bronze sculptures with a global orientation. The exhibit is open from 1 to 5 p.m. June 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

The gallery welcomes another pair of artists, Cindy Ruenes of Pipersville and Kathie Jankauskas of Yardley, in July. In “A Duet of Color,” the artists blend a variety of the mediums oil, cold wax, and mixed media. Inspired by Bucks County, Maine, Italy, and nature, their harmonious art captures the essence of landscapes, flowers, vegetables, and animals. The exhibit is open from 1 to 5 p.m. June 29-30, July 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 and 27-28.

“Private Conversations: Dancing with Mystery and Color,” in August, features the oils, pastels and mixed media of Janine Dunn Wade of Doylestown. This will be a retrospective exhibition revealing explorations, discoveries, and unexpected destinations arrived at through the sheer joy and excitement of the painting process. The exhibit is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25.

September’s artist, Jane Ramsey of Bedminster, will present works of watercolor, graphite and monoprint. Her show, “Quiet Passages: Reflections of Neighboring Farms,” showcases the small farming community where she lives in Upper Bucks County. The artist shares her personal and intimate experiences, stories and observations from the past six years in that area. The exhibit is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 7-8, 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29.

The season will conclude with October’s “10th Juried Art Exhibition,” featuring juried art by more than 50 regional artists in a variety of media. The show is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 12-13, 19-20, 26-27 and Nov. 2-3.

The Stover Mill Gallery, housed in the restored, 192-year-old Stover Mill (listed on the National Registry of Historic Places), is located along the Delaware River at 852 River Road (Route 32), Erwinna.
