Stover Mill Gallery hosts ninth juried art show

Posted

On Oct. 16, the Tinicum Civic Association’s historic Stover Mill Gallery held a well-attended opening reception celebrating the return of its highly popular juried art show.

Chosen from 140 submissions, over 70 regional artists were selected by jury for gallery exhibition across a broad variety of painting mediums, mixed media, photography and sculpture.

"We are so very happy to feature the 73 artists exhibiting this year, making for a truly dynamic show", said Lary Brandt Chair, Stover Mill Gallery. "With over $4,500 in prize money from 13 sponsors, we congratulate our award winners and thank all our participating artists.” Categories awarded were: Most Outstanding Submission, Outstanding Use of Color, Excellent Still Life and an overall Juror’s Award.

The two jurors for this year’s submissions were Mavis Smith, who has exhibited paintings in Amsterdam, Santa Fe, New York City and in a one-person show at the Michener Art Museum; and Rhonda Garland, an accomplished painter and calligrapher as well as director of the Silverman Gallery of Bucks County, which showcases regional impressionistic artists.

The Stover Mill Gallery, located in Erwinna at 852 River Road, has been in operation since 1959. The Stover Mill Art show runs through Nov. 6; the gallery is open weekends from 1 to 5 p.m.
