Sourland Mountain Fest returns, in new location

Posted

The 17th annual Sourland Mountain Fest presented by Unionville Vineyards and benefiting the Sourland Conservancy, returns from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, rain or shine, at the Unionville Vineyards, 9 Rocktown Road, Ringoes, N.J.

There will be live music, local food, craft beer, wine and spirits, as well as a variety of local artisans, businesses and educational organizations. Tickets are limited to the first 1,000 sold.

The Sourland Music Festival (original name) was founded by Tom Kilbourne and James Popik, Sourland Conservancy members, circa 2003. Unionville Vineyards, the Presenting Sponsor, is the new location for the festival this year.

The Sourland Mountain Fest benefits the Sourland Conservancy, an organization dedicated solely to the protection, promotion and preservation of the 90-square-mile region. The Sourland region is a hard diabase ridge starting near Lambertville City and stretching eastward toward Hillsborough.

It is one of the three major areas of unbroken habitat in New Jersey and is home to the largest contiguous forest in Central New Jersey. The Sourland region consists of a vast ecosystem of forest, wetlands and grasslands, as well as numerous hiking trails and preserves for the public. The region is home to an array of plant and animal species, some of which are rare or endangered.

Attendees of the Sourland Mountain Fest are supporting the Sourland Conservancy’s mission to sustain the region.

VIP attendees will be treated to cuisine courtesy of the Ryland Inn and Chef Chris Albrecht. VIP tickets are sold on a limited basis and VIP’s must be over 21.

Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the festival. Volunteers receive free admission, a T-shirt and refreshments. Register at SourlandMountainFest.com/volunteer/.
